Happy Birthday, Genevieve Bujold!

Today is the birthday of Genevieve Bujold, one of Canada's most celebrated actresses from Montreal, Quebec. Genevieve first gained great acclaim portraying Anne Boleyn in the 1969 film, Anne of the Thousand Days, opposite Richard Burton as King Henry VIII. I drew this caricature for the ISCA forum where members draw the celebrity of the day as determined by their birthday. As it happens, July 1st is also Canada Day (AKA Victoria Day), so it seemed rather appropriate to acknowledge our national holiday with this pic of lovely, dark eyed Genevieve.

Happy Canada Day!

I guess she was the original choice for Captain on Star Trek Voyager also. Season 1 has a few of her scenes from the pilot episode.

Yes, you're correct, Eric. Apparently Genevieve decided she really wasn't that interested in the demands of a weekly TV show and opted out.

Is that how it happened? The extras on the DVD are a little vague, but they producers make it sound like things just weren't working out- I took it to mean they canned her but I guess it's a purposefully vague answer that one could interpret either way.

Very good job Pete. Tough i didn't know her even as a Quebec province residant. I have such problems with our own culture. LOL
