Christmas Party Caricatures

Here is another selection of my live event work featuring caricatures of the staff of Tetra Pak Canada, who held their Christmas party last evening up in Kleinburg. It was a fun event and I believe I sketched just over fifty caricatures over the space of about six hours or so. Many thanks to Catherine Klasios for hiring me for the evening!

Once again Pete, your work is outstanding. I love viewing the images that you post. They're so clean with confident, strong lines. You always make the people so appealing. Never straying on the side of grotesque just for the sake of humour.
Have you posted any videos of you working? I know I could learn a lot just by looking over your shoulder.
You're an incredible draughtsman. Keep up the good work.

Caricatures seem to be a hit this year. Well, everyone would be delighted to see themselves in cartoons. We had the same activity in Denver, Colorado recreation centers. We invited several artists and have our children caricatures during our Thanksgiving at Denver parks and recreation centers. It was a lot of fun. I even have mine.

Wow! Very well cartoony caricatures you made Pete. The lines connect naturally well in each other. Those who you caricatured sure recognise your talent.

Love your work.

I was wondering if you had any tips for someone wanting to experiment with doing this sort of thing. Ive been wanting to start selling caricatures (in public ideally) but I'm not sure I'm prepared. I don't know what I might be in for or how to even test the waters. I mean, I have been selling some, but its always in the privacy of my own home, where I have a lot of time to draw and redraw to find a decent likeness. I wouldn't have that luxury working at, say, a fair or on a boardwalk.

I also have no clue what to charge. I don't want to set the bar too high and have disappointed customers.

And one more thing, supplies. What do you use? I'm used to working digital a lot these days, but I'd like to go the physical media route more. I have a set of rapidograph pens, but those can be time consuming as I'm sure you know to get thick and thin lines I want, so I know I'd want to use brush tip markers, just need to decide which one. Is copic good for this?

A lot of questions I know, but if you could even answer one that would be great.
