Yep, ol' Tommy Lee Jones is the subject this week on
Caricaturama Showdown 3000. I quite like this guy, despite the fact that he has a reputation for being a miserable bastard who makes life tough for anyone trying to interview him. He's got a face and persona just made for caricature, though. Oddly, both he and the last subject, James Cromwell, I mostly sketched from watching the same film,
Space Cowboys. Although I found I needed to see more of him to get the likeness to my satisfaction, so here is the
video clip that I found online that seemed to help me out.
LoL! I hope that means laugh out loud becouse thats what I did.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic Pete. Two of my favorites of yours-John Wayne and now Tommy lee.
Wow, I never thought Tommy Lee was a grump, but even then, I still like him.
ReplyDeleteI love it!! You have the most recognizable style and you consistently hit the likeness on your caricatures. I'm a fan!
ReplyDeletePerfect
ReplyDeleteClear as the lines on his face
ReplyDeleteMr Emslie,
ReplyDeleteAny idea of who was caricatured by Joe Rinaldi ... on post of Didier Ghez"s blog?
Opinions are diverse!
Thanks for your input.

ReplyDeleteJust based on the artist's style, I frankly have no idea. However, even before I looked at the comments, I presumed that Joe Rinaldi was the artist of the piece, whether or not he was also the subject. As far as I'm concerned, any artist worth his salt will more likely add his name as the signature, not as just an identification of the subject.
Might be Salvador Dali. The look of the caracature seems to fit the style of the time that Dali worked there. But then again It could be Harry the janiter...
ReplyDeleteNice. :)
